The Gem Bird Puzzle Altar

Stardew Valley: All Ginger Island Hidden Areas Guide (2)

One of the first hidden areas you can discover on Ginger Island is the Gem Bird Puzzle Altar. It can be found by following the paving stones near the Parrot Express Station and walking all the way to the right. As you follow this path, you'll eventually reach a clearing with a large rock and four stone pedestals arranged around it.

To complete the Gem Bird Puzzle, you need to collect gemstones from the Gem Birds that randomly appear in one of the four regions of the island (north, south, east, or west) on rainy days. Next, place these gems on the pedestal corresponding to the island region where you found the Gem Bird.

Even after you’ve solved the puzzle, Gem Birds will continue to appear on the island on rainy days and drop gems. You can collect these free gems and gift them to your favorite NPCs.

The Shipwreck’s Secret

The Shipwreck is located on the southeastern beach of Ginger Island, directly below your new farm. While it appears to be an ordinary prop, the Shipwreck actually holds another hidden area.

You can enter the Shipwreck by following the small path made of sandy stones on the left side of the ship. This leads to a secret area inside the ship where you can find a Golden Walnut hidden amongst some plants.

The Colored Crystals Puzzle Cave

The Colored Crystals Puzzle Cave is cleverly hidden in the northeast area of the Tiger Slime Grove. To get here, start walking left from the Parrot Express Station and cross the rope bridge.

Once you reach the other side of the bridge, turn right and walk straight up to the edge of the cliff. Next, look for a curved palm tree and carefully walk under it to find the entrance to the Colored Crystals Puzzle Cave.

Upon entering the cave, make sure to click on the lion to begin a game of Simon Says. By winning the game you can earn three Golden Walnuts.

While you’re in the Tiger Slime Grove, follow the edge of the cliff to the right. Destroy any obstacles in your way and continue on this path till you reach a curved Palm Tree. Underneath it, you’ll find another Golden Walnut.

Once you’ve built the Island Beach Resort, you’ll unlock a star-shaped tide pool, a large rock by the shore where a Mermaid appears on rainy days, and a hidden pirate’s cove in the Southeast portion of Ginger Island.

To access the Pirate Cove, you need to walk through a secret entrance located near the star-shaped pool. Simply head to the far right of the sandy beach and follow the wooden planks into the cliff wall. Walk over the planks into the wall and you will enter the Pirate’s Cove.

The small pools in Pirate’s Cove are the only spots in the game where you can catch Stingray. Additionally, you can catch a Gourmand Statue by fishing in the Pirate’s Cove.

The Hidden Volcano Path

Located in the north of Ginger Island is a fiery Volcano with secrets of its own. Once you head into the Volcano, you’ll find a large lava river that may seem impossible to cross. Interestingly, you can actually turn the lava rocks into solid stone with your watering can, creating a temporary path across the fiery obstacle.

There is a hidden area located at the end of the lava river. To get there, use your watering can to create a stone path all the way to the far left end of the lava river. At the end, you should see a smaller lava pool and a staircase leading outside the volcano. Once you reach the area outside, you’ll find two Golden Walnuts.

Right in the middle of Ginger Island is a broken-down rope bridge that spans the walking path near the Archaeologist's Tent. When repaired, it leads to the Dig Site. Once you're inside the Dig Site, walk up the stairs located next to the entrance of the Mushroom Cave.

In the clearing above, line yourself up to the same latitude as the rope bridge on the right. From this position, start walking directly into the mountainside. Doing so, you’ll enter a hidden tunnel and emerge on the cliffside with a view of the rope bridge, where you can find two Golden Walnuts.

The Hidden Vine Tree Path

Intriguingly, there’s more to Ginger Island than what meets the eye. If you climb the stairs to the area with the Island Trader’s stall and take a right turn, you’ll come across a vine tree. While it looks completely ordinary, there is a hidden path underneath this vine tree.

Simply walk under the vine tree and follow the path till you come out to the cliffside overlooking the beach. Here, you’ll find a Golden Walnut on the cliff.

You can find two secret areas near the Parrot Express Station, situated north of the Ginger Island farm. For the first path, head to the far left side of the station, towards the darkened treeline. Here, you’ll see a few patches of lighter green treetops that stand out from the rest. Simply follow these tufts of light green treetops to the end and you’ll find a hidden Golden Walnut.

In the same area, go to the left edge of the treeline (that forms the canopy for the staircase) and look around the tree grove. Here, you’ll find yet another Golden Walnut.

Two Hidden Paths Near The Golden Joja Parrot

Stardew Valley: All Ginger Island Hidden Areas Guide (6)

The Golden Joja Parrot was introduced in Stardew Valley’s Update 1.6 and can be found near the Ginger Island Volcano. It can help you find all the hidden Golden Walnuts on the island for a hefty price of 10,000 g per hidden walnut.

There are two secret paths in the same location as the Golden Joja Parrot. For the first one, simply walk along the treeline that borders the volcano area. At the end of this L-shaped treeline, you’ll see a hidden opening. Enter this secret area and you'll find a hidden Golden Walnut.

Once you've collected the first Golden Walnut, stand in the bottom left corner of this small, square-shaped area. From here, walk left and you should see a second hidden path. Follow this path to the end to find another Golden Walnut.

One of the easier paths to find on Ginger Island is a secret area near the Island Trader’s shop. The Island Trader is a blue-bird merchant that sells island-specific items. Simply stand in front of the shop stall and walk into the treeline beneath the curved palm tree on the left.

Once you enter the hidden path in the treeline, you’ll find a Golden Walnut.

A Hidden Path Near Qi.’s Walnut Room

Stardew Valley: All Ginger Island Hidden Areas Guide (7)

Mr. Qi’s Walnut Room is located on the far West side of Ginger Island and can only be accessed once you’ve collected 100 Golden Walnuts. Even if you haven’t unlocked his secret room yet, you can find a secret path near it.

This hidden path runs alongside the cliff where Qi’s Walnut Room is situated. To find it, stand in front of the wall with the door to Qi’s room and start walking left towards the water. Continue walking until you can’t move any further. From here, you should see a single-tile-wide path that goes straight up.

Follow this hidden path and you’ll reach an area that contains yet another Golden Walnut.
