How I Created This Sweet Curry Sauce Recipe

It has been over 12 years since I’ve eaten at McDonald’s and I suddenly got a random craving for the sweet curry sauce that I used to adore in my youth.

After a quick glance at the ingredients online, I knew there would be no way I’d be eating this sauce every again in my life as I am allergic to the ingredients, plus I’m far too healthy to put that kind of junk in my body again.

My very favorite thing to do is to make healthy, copycat versions of my old favorite foods, so it’s high time I made a version of this curry sauce that I used to love.

The main theme of my website is filling green smoothies, so this is a deviation from me, as I normally share recipes that help you to detox and include an abundance of fruit and veg.

And this curry dip may not be a staple in your diet, but it is actually healthy, so you can rest assured that you are doing your body good as you indulge in this dipping sauce.

I don’t know about you but I’m a real sauce fanatic.

I can’t stand dry food and have to have some kind of dip or sauce with every meal I make.

What I used to love most about eating McDonalds was the tasty sweet curry sauce that I would get with the fries.

I would eat about 3 of these delicious dips with a portion of fries and every single piece of french fry would have to be covered in the sauce before I would allow it to go into my mouth.

This of course made the meal last a really long time as I’d dip bite, dip and bite every single fry.

But this was my treat meal once a week and I would savor every morsel of it.

Now I’ve realized that any old oven french fries taste the same as McDonald’s fries. They are nothing special. It was the sauce that made them special.

As I said, this is not the kind of recipe that I often publish on this site, but seeing as I searched the Internet for a copycat recipe for McDonald’s Sweet Curry Sauce and literally couldn’t find anything at all, I knew I had to invent my own recipe.

What I did was to look at the ingredients that were in McDonald’s Curry Sauce and take the flavors and add them into my own recipe.

I also left out all of the junk because that’s the great thing about making your own homemade food – you get to choose healthy, fresh ingredients that benefit your body.

I knew I needed a thick base for the sauce, and in the original ingredients, McDonald’s had actually used apricots which thicken up nicely in a sauce.

I didn’t have any apricots handy and didn’t want to wait for them to ripen and peel and chop them, so I decided to use a very close substitute, which is mango.

Mango is the perfect ingredient for a dip as it’s super sweet, and thickens nicely.

It is also great for the time-starved or lazy people because you can buy it frozen, already ripe, peeled and chopped. Perfect!

This recipe ended up being very quick to make as I just threw all the ingredients into a blender, blended them and then simmered them in a saucepan for 5 minutes to cook and thicken the sauce.

After tweaking the herbs and spices that I added to the sauce, I was ecstatic to discover that I had created an extremely similar recipe to the original.

It may have been a long time since I tasted this sauce, but believe me, I have not forgotten how good it tastes. This sauce is almost an exact replica.

My whole family loved it, even my husband who is not a fan of sauces at all, and he asked for seconds so he wasn’t just being polite!

I can’t wait for you to try this sauce.

How Long Does The Sweet Curry Sauce Dip Keep?

This sauce makes a large batch as I know you are going to love it so much and will want to eat this over and over.

It will stay fresh in the fridge for up to 5 days in a sealed container.

What I suggest you do is freeze small portions of this in ice cube trays or other small pots so you can get out exactly enough for one meal at a time.

You just need to defrost this sauce for 2-6 hours before you want to use it, or you can defrost it more quickly in a saucepan on the lowest heat.

Hi Katherine,

I just wanted to tell you I completed the 7 day detox and I feel so great.

I have lost 6lbs, do not feel like I need more my morning coffee, the flushing of my facial skin from rosacea has dramatically reduced and I am so excited to wake up each morning and make a green thickie for breakfast!!

I am a stay at-home, homeschooling momma of 3 littles and at times so busy I would forget to feed myself!

I would go most of the day without eating and then snack on random things.

I gained 60 pounds the last 6 years during pregnancy.

I have lost 30lbs but recently plateaued and have felt so frustrated.

I’ve tried everything from paleo and keto to the point where I didn’t know what to eat or how much and felt like even eating fruit was bad for me which thankfully it’s not!

What a game changer for me. Thank you for sharing a simple but effective program.

I’m so excited to continue another week with this plan!ThankfulStephanie
